SAPPHIRE
Blue Sapphires have long symbolized royalty and romance, with a rich history dating back centuries. In ancient times, Greek and Roman monarchs adorned themselves with blue Sapphires, believed to offer protection from envy and harm. This tradition gained prominence in 1981 when Prince Charles presented Princess Diana with a blue Sapphire engagement ring, a cherished heirloom subsequently passed down to Prince William, who gifted it to Duchess Kate.
While Blue Sapphires are sourced from various regions worldwide, including Australia, China, Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam, and the United States, the most esteemed specimens originate from the Mogok mine in Burma (Myanmar). Burmese Sapphires are prized for their rarity, as only a fraction of the mine’s output—10-20%—comprises blue Sapphires, with the remainder being Ruby.
